PASTY-makers Ginsters have won a top food award at a glittering awards ceremony.
The Callington-based company - one of Cornwall's largest employers - picked up the gong at the Food Manufacture Excellence Awards in recognition of its supply chain.
The FMEA Awards' Independent judging panel praised Ginsters' improved fleet and the company's holistic approach to problem solving.
It also recognised the business' strong accent on local sourcing and sustainability.
Ginsters fought off stiff competition from fellow short-listed companies – Coca Cola Enterprises, Fruitapeel Juice, Hannan Meats, Tulip and 2 Sisters Food Group to claim top prize.
Gavin Mitchell, Ginsters head of supply chain said: "The Ginsters Supply Chain team is thrilled that the hard work in Callington has been recognised in this way.
"It's particularly pleasing that we have been benchmarked nationally against some of the biggest names in the food and drink industry.
"We are very proud of the progress we have made in supply chain over the last couple of years while at the same time fulfilling our on-going commitment to local sourcing – over 70 per cent of our ingredients are sourced from local farmers within a 20 mile radius of the bakery.
It's certainly a feather in the cap for South West Manufacturing generally that we won this award and helps to put Cornwall on the map!"
Richard Bain, Ginsters production director said: "This award recognises the hard work and dedication of all our teams across the business as it has been a real team effort.
"This award and our Number 1 status in the marketplace is a reflection of the great team of people we have at Ginsters and their desire to contribute to the success of our business every single day."
