The categories for The Herald Business Awards 2016 are:
Business of the Year, sponsored by Plymouth University and City College Plymouth:
There are three categories: small companies with up to 25 employees; medium firms with 26-149 employees; and large businesses with 150+ employees.
2015 winners: Princess Yachts (large), Carval Computing (medium), Alpha Logic (small).
Lifetime Achievement: For the businessman or woman who has made a considerable, profitable and lasting contribution over at least 20 years.
2015 winner: Larry Speare.
Entrepreneur of the Year: This award will go to the individual who has made a significant impact on the business world during the past year.
2015 winner: David Rowe, Applied Automation
Manufacturing Business of the Year, sponsored by BD Diagnostics: For the company excelling in financial performance, job creation, investment, industry recognition, accreditation, and accolades.
2015 winner: Dura Manufacturing
Corporate Social Responsibility Award: This award will go to the business which has made a significant contribution to the community.
2015 winner: Santander Plymouth
Tourism/Hospitality Business of the Year: For the business which has increased visitor numbers and promoted Plymouth as a destination.
2015 winner: The Treby Arms
Social Enterprise of the Year: For a business with social or environmental objectives where surpluses are reinvested in the business or community.
2015 winner: Devonport Guildhall
Innovation Award: This will go to a company or individual who has made a significant impact with a new idea.
2015 winner: Fairford Electronics
Green Business of the Year, sponsored by GWR: Goes to the company which has shown outstanding concern for the environment.
2015 winner: Kawasaki Precision Machinery
Family Business of the Year: This will go to a business, established by a family and still run by members, and operating for at least five years.
2015 winner: The Hajiyianni Family
Apprenticeship Development Award: Will go to the business or organisation which has made a significant contribution to the advancement of apprenticeships.
2015 winner: Plymouth City Council
Start-up Business of the Year, sponsored by Optimus Performance Marketing : Presented to the best new business idea of the past year.
2015 winner: Column Bakehouse
Young Business person of the Year: For the business person under the age of 30 who best demonstrates ambition, energy, skill and vision, and business success.
2015: Clare McCombe, Flint's Yard.
International Trade Award: Will go to the business which has made significant overseas sales.
2015 winner: Sponge UK
Build In Plymouth Award: This will reward excellence in construction and the built environment, particularly in light of the immense amount of construction and development, and growth, being seen in Plymouth.
