A car crashed into a gas main at the side of a Plymouth street in the early hours of Monday morning.
Emergency services were sent to Commercial Road, Coxside, just after 2.15am.
Two fire appliances from Greenbank tried to stem the flow of gas until engineers arrives on site.
A Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service spokesman confirmed no one was inured during the single-vehicle crash.
"We were called after reports of a single-vehicle crash on Commercial Road between a car and a gas main," the spokesman said.
"There were no injuries and we just waited at the scene until a gas engineer arrived. We were there for around an hour before returning to the station."
The car was described by the spokesman as a Ford Ka.
