Stefan Piotrowski, brother of MasterChef, the Professionals winner 2012, Anton Piotrowski is opening a bespoke burger bar on Ebrington Street at the former home of Bistro One. WYB Burger (What's Your Beef) is due to open on Bank Holiday Monday, one of the busiest food days of the summer season.

Forget about USA inspired eateries, Mr Piotrowski said: "I'm steering away from the American diner look. We're British and our look will subtly say that.

"Cool trendy, great food, beers, shakes and burgers....Boom!"

Work is underway to get the venue ready for opening and brother Anton is mucking in too. There will be seating for forty and takeaway gourmet burgers will also be available.

"If it kills me we will be open on August 31. We are trying to do most of the work ourselves to keep costs to a minimum, and we've got a great team together. Anton is training the chefs and has designed the burgers but this is ultimately a solo project."

Mr Piotrowski is Anton's older brother, he says the dream was always to run a pub together. Stefan was in place at Launceston pub, the Springer Spaniel before joining Anton at the Treby Arms front of house while Anton's wife Clare took maternity leave.

The couple celebrated the birth of a daughter in late June.

Anton, won MasterChef the Professionals after cooking with luminaries like Tom Kerridge and Heston Blumenthal.

The Treby Arms, his "boozer", went on to win critical acclaim and ultimately a Michelin star for the chef's inspired take on food theatre and eye on seasonal produce.

Mr Piotrowski says the menu isn't finalised yet but the burgers are the star, for example, the BFF (best friends forever) burger which is big enough for two to share – it will be cut into 4 and served with two glasses of Prosecco.

"We will also be matching craft ales to the burgers, using local suppliers for meat and Jacka's Bakery for the buns – Owen who is part of the Jacka crew used to work with us at the Treby."

"We're using all local businesses and the response has been great. Everyone helps everyone out on Ebrington Street, it's a real community of businesses. But first we want to get the basics right. The menu will be limited to six burgers – so it's simple."

But don't be mistaken, the hallmarks you expect from a top chef will be there.

"We will make our own relish, mayonnaise and ketchup and hope to have an organic garden out the back so we can grow our own veg too."

Prices will start at around £6.50, there will be shakes, sides and fries but all done with the characteristic quality you'd expect from a Michelin starred chef.

"We are looking at sliders with shots of craft beers and of course we will do gluten free buns too. "The menu will gradually build up, but we want to get the basics right first."

For now they are on target to open on August 31
